Betty Joan Packard, 84, of Ashland, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. Betty was born July 13, 1931, in Lodi, to George and Esther (Hipp) Burr. She graduated from Lodi High School in 1949 and married Delbert Packard on April 9, 1950.
Betty was happiest being outdoors and working in her flower gardens. She was a volunteer at Kingwood Center in Mansfield for over 25 years, a member of the Kingwood Rose Society, the American Rose Society and served as a rose judge, the Forest City Rose Society, the Ohio Day Lily Society, the American Day Lily Society and the Delphinium Society of England.
Betty will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years, Delbert Packard; daughter, DelAnn (Spence) Miller of Wooster; grandchildren, Brenden (Becca) Miller of Chaing Mai, Thailand, Taryn (Ben) Wolf of Wooster and Jacob and Delaney Packard of Nebraska; four great-grandchildren, Clara and Zeke Wolf and Maja and Emerson Miller
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steve, and sister, Carol Rennecker
The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 19, at 10 A.M., at the Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi (330-948-1122). Pastor Nick Cleveland will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. Friends may call Friday, December 18, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 P.M., at the funeral home.

Sidney “Sue” (Hargis) Cecil, 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 15, 2015, surrounded by loving family after battling lung Cancer.
She is survived by daughter, Christine (Jeff) Darnell and son, Rick Cecil of Wadsworth; stepdaughter, Donna Cecil of Copley; granddaughters, Brittany (Zach) Few of Wadsworth and Kara (Alex) Wietrzykowski of Gainesville, Florida; grandsons, Tyler Darnell of Wadsworth and Justin Cecil of Ocala, Florida; sisters, Gatha “Gay” Roach of Nacogdoches, Texas and Jane Pesko of Akron; sisters in-law, Lucy Hargis of Tallmadge and Rose Hargis of Cuyahoga Falls and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph “Jess” Cecil; parents, Raymond and Emma (Richardson) Hargis of Copley; her brothers, Donald Ray Hargis of Cuyahoga Falls, and Ivan Glen “Gus” Hargis of Tallmadge and her stepson, Mark Cecil of Copley.
Sue and Jess owned Lanning’s, an award winning fine dining restaurant in Bath. It has been family owned and operated for over 40 years. They also owned a Quarter horse farm in Wadsworth. They bred, trained and showed horses competitively with their children, winning many awards and world titles.
Sue’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and her most precious hours were spent with them. Her lively spirit and giving nature will always be remembered.
Services will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, December 21, at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron. Interment will be at Copley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, December 20, from 2 until 5 P.M.

Virgil J. Stevens
Virgil J. Stevens, 93, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 of natural causes in Palm Springs, California. Virgil was born November 6, 1922, to Wayne and Viola Stevens in Medina.
He married Laverne Walter, a registered nurse, in 1948 in Medina. He was a painting and wallpaper contractor for over 50 years. He started his business, Medina Decorators, in the 1950’s, where he painted many of the Historic homes in Medina. He moved to Palm Springs, California in 1959, where his clients included Arthur Elrod & Assoc. and many celebrities – Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and Liberace to name a few.
He was a member of the Painters Local Union #1627 and was the Union’s Business Agent until his retirement. He was chairman of the Christian Business Men’s Committee (CBMC) for many years, where they ministered God’s love to the inmates at the Banning Jail Camp. He was a member of the Palm Springs Community Church, where he served as an Elder and Superintendent of the Junior High Sunday School. Virgil served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945 during World War II and the Akron National Guard from 1946-1949. Virgil was a loving husband and father. He was caring, generous, loved to laugh, had a quick wit and will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Laverne of 67 years; daughters, Colleen (Steve Schindler) Stevens and Connie (Ron Harviston) Stevens; sons, Scott (Karen, deceased) Stevens and Doug (Tamara) Stevens and four grandchildren, Patrick, Mathew, Brett and Alicia.
He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Services were held Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the Riverside National Cemetery.

George J. “GJ” Ciulla
George J. “GJ” Ciulla, 67, of Medina, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was born May 18, 1948, to the late Robert and Cleora (nee Martin) Ciulla in Lakewood.
George was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and went on to retire as a police officer from the Cleveland Police Department. He was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Ann, of 41 years; his loving children, Laura Ciulla-Nelson, Dena (Ryan) Ciulla-Stosak and Joseph (Seana) Ciulla; his cherished grandchildren, Miles, Zachary, Dominic, Joseph, McKenzie, Madalyn and Sydney; his siblings, Bobby, Robert, Craig (Suzi) and Joan (Alan) Herold and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Elma Cook Mullins, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in Sisterville, West Virginia at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Elma was born October 1, 1930 in Montcoal, West Virginia to the late Stanley and Dona (Asbury) Cook.
She retired after working for 28 years for the H.W. Madison Company and the J.W. Smucker Company. Elma was a member of the Medina Church of Christ, Forest Meadows.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jerry) Toothman; grandchildren, Kristen (Mike) McCort, Benjamin Toothman, Trisha (Damian) McRae; great-grandchildren, Lucas McCort, Alister McRae and Phoebe McRae; brother, David Cook and sisters, Beulah Williams and Maxine Wharton.
Elma was preceded in death by her husband, Luther “Luke” Mullins; daughter, Patricia Mullins; brothers, Charles, Virgil and Stanley Cook, Jr and her sisters, Norma Mullins and Irene Smith.

Timothy “Tim” A. Randolph
Timothy “Tim” A. Randolph, 50, of Wadsworth, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015. He was born in Wadsworth on May 4, 1965.
Tim was a graduate of Wadsworth High School, Class of 1983 and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Tex” Randolph and brother, Matt Randolph.
Tim is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sandy and Jim Bauer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bart and Becky Randolph and Rex and Holly Randolph; eight nephews and nieces also surviving, that Tim treated as they were his own children, Bart, Brandon, Brett, Brody, Tyler, Easton, Kendall and Karsyn.

Michael Vrsansky, 74, of Brunswick, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015. He was born October 24, 1941, in Fairview Park, to the late Michael and Lois (nee Gorges) Vrsansky.
Michael worked as a manager at a lumberyard but will be remembered most for his love of hunting, his membership to the Parma Bass Casters and the time he enjoyed spending with his family.

Marcella L. Kephart, 85, of Morehead City, formerly of Sharon Center, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born August 20, 1930 in Sharon Center, to Walter and Mable Friedt Swigart.
Mrs. Kephart was employed by the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk.

Mary Frances “Fran” Cox, 86, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015, in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was active and healthy until the Lord called her home. She was born December 3, 1929, to Faye and Vernice Sell in Alliance, Ohio.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn; daughter, Amy Yurick and sister, Marge Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Guenther of Gastonia, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Michelle Cox of Westfield Center; grandchildren, Joe, Michael, Paul, Craig, Jr., Justin, Jason, Gregory and Jarett; great-grandchildren, Camden, Blake and Katie; brother, Chuck Sell of Dayton; sister-in-law, Corinne Bacher; loving cousins and nieces and nephews.
Fran was an elementary school teacher for 30 years at Reimer Elementary School in Akron. Upon her retirement, she and Lynn moved to Cape Coral and many years later Fran moved to Ft. Myers.
She will be missed by her dear Florida friends, with whom she shared a full and happy retirement playing Bridge, Mahjong and going to the movies. She was an avid reader and created many beautiful counted cross stitch needlework pictures. She was always working on a crossword puzzle, word search or 500-piece puzzle. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Cape Coral, where she had many special friends.

Joyce Lovina Bruce
Joyce Lovina Bruce, 95, of North Ridgeville, passed away at home Friday, December 18, 2015 with family by her side. Joyce the daughter of the late Leon and Susan (nee Scott) Gorham was born March 22, 1920 in Homerville.
She was a 1938 graduate of LeRoy High School and on March 31, 1944 in Cleveland, she married the Love of her life, Barton A. Bruce a love story that would last until his death January 15, 1991.
During WWII, Joyce supported the war effort by working at the Ravenna Arsenal as a lead key punch operator. As a young married couple, she and Bart managed the ballroom at Chippewa Lake Park. It was the golden age of the Big Band and an exciting time to work at the ballroom where many of the most famous bands performed. Joyce also worked at the LeRoy/Westfield Center Post Office and retired from the Admissions Office at Lodi Community Hospital.
She was a member of the Westfield Center United Methodist Church and the Lodi Chapter of the Eastern Star. Known to her grandchildren as Grammy, over the years she was a fixture in her grandson’s sporting events around the Amherst area. Joyce was also an avid fan of her hometown teams – the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Indians. On May 17, 2014, she was present for the opening of the 1923 time capsule, which had been buried in the foundation of the former Westfield Elementary School, the school she attended as a child.
Joyce is survived by her children, Barbara Bruce Alexander of North Ridgeville, Paula Bruce Sanchez (Jose) of Valrico, Florida and Robert Scott Bruce (Karen) of Amherst; grandsons, Logan Bruce of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Alex Bruce of Amherst and a brother, Richard Gorham of Deland, Florida.
Besides her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings, Lewis Gorham, David Gorham and Ann Gorham Eagan.

Frank Paul DePoole, 54, of Medina, talented carpenter and proud member of the Brunswick 12 Step Club, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015.
He was the devoted husband of Deborah; father of Frank and David. Frank is survived by his father, Joseph (Pat); brothers, Brad (Marianne), Joe (Kate); sisters, Debbie, Gigi (Chris) and Michelle (Rick); brother-in-law, Phillip; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Earl) and Bunny (Charlie), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Frank’s legacy will always be to treat everyone as though they are your friend, to live by the Golden Rule and never look down on others unless you’re helping them up. He will be greatly missed by all that had the great fortune to know him.

Kim F. Gable, 57, of Seville, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her home. She was born July 16, 1958 in Orrville, to James C. and Jo Ann Bucher McVay. On June 19, 1981, she married David H. Gable, he preceded her in death March 29, 2005.
Kim was a homemaker and also was a child and adult caregiver for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jolene (Jonah) Carpenter of Medina, Justin (Chelsea Collins) Gable of Cleveland and Jarred Gable of Seville; grandchildren, Lacie Haffner, Isaac and Layla Carpenter; brother, David Kauffman of Loudonville and a sister, Lorie Heffelfinger of Shreve.
Along with her husband, Kim was preceded in death by her parents.

Sheldon A. Hollopeter, 95, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side, Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was born July 2, 1920 in Akron, to the late Ray and Velma (Spicher) Hollopeter.
Sheldon attended Sharon School and Eastern Mennonite College. He served in Army Air Force during World War II. He was part of the second generation that owned and operated Medina Tractor for many years and he enjoyed managing his restaurants Fodorette and the Cottage Inn. Sheldon loved flying in his Cessna, playing the guitar and the harmonica, following the Indians and the Browns and working in his yard. He will always be remembered for his positive spirit, generosity and helping those in need.
He is survived by his children, Brent (Bonnie) Hollopeter of Medina, Evan (Toni) Hollopeter of Chatham, Reed (Lois) Hollopeter of Lafayette, Lisa (Steve) Cook of Indianapolis, and Jim (Diane) Bednar of Columbus; grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan, Jamie, Michael, Sierra, Emry, Landon, Kyle, Kevin and Katelyn; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Kathryn) Hollopeter of Medina and sister, Wilma Shank of Indiana. He will be greatly missed by his caretaker, Niki, who provided him with much travel, loving care and enjoyment in his last year.

In loving memory of Harry Feeman was born December 2, 1941 to Wilbur and Cora (Kyser) Feeman.
Harry married Norma (Miller) July 8, 1967. They have three children: sons, James (Sheila), Michael (Tisha) and daughter, Lauronna (James); grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Cody, Kassidy, Trenton, Daniels, Domenick and Samantha; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Amstutz and Maryanne Pierce and sisters-in-law, Carol Hoffman and Alverda Feeman; nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Favorite past times were football, collecting collectibles, fishing and spending time with his family.

Andrew Patrick
Andrew Patrick, 29, of Brunswick, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was born January 18, 1986 in Cleveland.
Andrew worked as a machinist but will be remembered most for his love of cars and video games and his contagious smile and vivid personality.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Lauren Simna (nee Pawul) and his step-father, Frank Simna; his brothers, Adam (Julia) Patrick and Tony Patrick; his sister, Stephanie Simna; his nephews, Michael Patrick and Liam Simna and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Patrick.
The family will receive friends Monday, December 28, 2015 from 4 until 8 P.M., at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd. Brunswick, 44256. A service for Andrew will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at 11 A.M., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens, Brunswick.

Ida Belle Krupp
Ida Belle Krupp, 92, of Medina, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015. She was born February 3, 1923 in Derry, Pennsylvania, to the late John David James and Hattie H. Foust.
As the spouse of a Presbyterian Minister, Ida Belle and her family kept on the move throughout their lifetime, having lived in Shreve, Ohio; Grove City, Indiana and Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. She will always be remembered as a mother who had a devotion to caring for children, as a Sunday School Teacher and especially her “Angel Unaware” son, Phillip Andrew, a Down Syndrome child.
Ida Belle is survived by Prudence K. (Davis) Aylsworth of Medina and Paulette E. Krupp of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Robert (Stacy) Davis of Albuquerque, New Mexico and David Shea Bridge and son-in-law, Dave Bridge of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Lois Krupp McCredie and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a Presbyterian Minister Reverend George R. Krupp, Jr. (2002); daughter, Priscilla A. Bridge (2013) and son, Phillip Andrew (1986).
A graveside service for Ida Belle will be held at a later date in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
