Charles Joseph O’Brien, Sr., 106, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013, in Macon, Georgia at the home of his daughter. Mr. O’Brien was born in Barnesville, Ohio, and was the second oldest of 10 children.
He was employed by the Western Union and operated the local Medina office. He retired as a train dispatcher for the Nickel Plate Railroad in 1975 and lived in Conneaut, Ohio for many years. He returned to Medina with his wife, Irene. When she passed away, he relocated to Macon, Georgia. He was honored as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Wirkner) in 2004.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Blaha (Jim); son, Charles Jr., (Susan); five grandaughters; and 16 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be at the Waite & Sons Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, Sunday, January 27, 2013, between 4 and 8 P.M. Funeral Mass and burial will be at St. Martin of Tours Church, 1800 Station Rd., Valley City, Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:00 A.M.
