Harold M. Burg

Harold M. Burg, 88, of Wadsworth, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012. He was born January 22, 1924 in Doylestown, Ohio, to the late John and Rosalea (Berger) Burg.

Mr. Burg was a graduate of Chippewa High School (Doylestown) class of 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 with the 97th Infantry Division – 322 Medical Battalion and later retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. with 41 years of service.

Harold married Patricia Blubaugh on May 30, 1953 in Wadsworth. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a life member of Wadsworth American Legion Post #170 and Wadsworth VFW Post #1089.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife Patricia on October 17, 2006, they had celebrated 53 years of marriage; he was also preceded in death by his sister, Florence (Raymond) Baker and brothers, Howard (Marge) Burg and Herb (Mary) Burg.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Ellen Burg of Wadsworth; granddaughters, Jennifer (Larry) Swain of Wadsworth, Sarah (Justin) Bleichrodt of Wadsworth and Christine Tangey of Rittman; and his great grandchildren, Clay and Gage Swain and Jaxon and Addison Bleichrodt, all of Wadsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 2 to 5 P.M., Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:45 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 9:30 A.M., Monday, December 31, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 272 Broad St., Wadsworth, with Fr. Joseph Labak as the Celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to: The H. Peter Burg Scholarship Fund, The University of Akron, 302 Buchtel Common, Akron, OH 44325-4702.
