Our very special Sally Sue Grundy, 56, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, after a brief stay at Hospice of Medina County in Medina. Her passing came on her father’s birthday. She was born October 3, 1958 in Cleveland, to George and June (Willis) Grundy. She resided in Lorain and later the Murray Ridge Group Home in Elyria.
Sally attended the Murray Ridge School, and worked at the Murray Ridge Workshop. She deeply loved her housemates, caregivers, and extended family, who guided her, loved her antics and appreciated her differences.
Surviving are her sisters and brothers, Grant (Sherry) Grundy of Sullivan, Donna Watson of Grafton, Diane (Charles) McCullough of Grafton, Robert (Tanna) Grundy of Nova; brother-in-law, Phil McConaghey of Hollywood, Florida. She was the loving aunt of Bruce, Barry, Todd, Tracie, Jennifer, Bryan, George, Meredith, Christy, David, Heather, Shawn, Carrie, and Charlene.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gail McConaghey and sister-in-law, Sue Grundy.
Sally entertained all who knew her, and taught us compassion in a sometimes difficult world. We celebrate her kind heart and fullness of life. We all have loved more deeply because of Sally. She enjoyed latch hooking, loved all things Disney, her Barbies and her special friends and family who enjoyed a movie or puzzle with her.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of her special family, housemates, and caregivers at Academy Court, and the Murray Ridge Workshop. She truly had family that extended well beyond the boundaries of her home.
A private Graveside Service will be held at Fields Cemetery in North Ridgeville, with a Celebration of her Life to be held at a later date.
