Marge Adams (nee Miller), 88, who checked the coin return of every pay phone she passed but bought cookies from every Girl Scout who knocked, died Saturday, January 24, 2015.

She loved crossword puzzles, sweatpants, her family, football, traveling, mystery novels and frugality, not necessarily in that order. Born in Akron in 1926 to Edward M. and Cleo (nee Bellville) Miller, Marge worked in Zanesville as Ohio’s first female licensed radio engineer before moving to Brunswick in 1957, where she served her community and family as a scout leader, poll worker and Red Cross swim program volunteer. Marge took special pride in supporting her family’s interests, accomplishments, and happiness at every step of their lives.

She is deeply loved and missed for her wicked smarts, her unflagging ability to laugh at herself and her complete disregard for social conventions.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Anthony; brother, Billie (age 10).

She is survived by her brother, Richard (Pat) Miller and family of Yuma, Arizona; son, Richard of Strongsville; daughter, Jane and favorite son-in-law, Don Weiland of Brunswick; granddaughters, Kelli (Scott) Rex of Columbus and Kate Weiland of Seattle, whom she taught that it’s cool for girls to be smart and independent; and twin great-grandsons, Charlie and Miles Rex of Columbus, whom she adored despite being largely unable to tell them apart.

A private interment is planned at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Donations can be made to a charity of your choice, in lieu of a big fuss.
