John N. Boland, 82, of Chatham Township, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Akron General Hospital. John was born October 10, 1930 in Hinton, West Virginia, to Paul and Thelma (nee Young) Boland.John was a bricklayer for 50 years with the Local #5 in Cleveland. He enjoyed coin collecting, Indian artifacts, junk collecting, playing farmer and hunting. John was a proud member of the Gideons. He was also a proud member of the Black River Church of the Bretheran.
He is survived by his children, Gary, Russell (Pamela), Gregory and Karen (David) Double; siblings, Mary and Thelma; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jillian, Jeremiah, Craig, Keith and Eric; and great grandchildren, Gabriella, Samuel, Nevin, Kyleigh, Thomas, Kaiden and Nathan.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Kitty; son, John A.; and siblings, Paul and Freddie.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2012, from 10:30 A.M., until 12:15 P.M., with funeral service immediately following, with Pastor Mark Teal officiating, at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, (corner of Rt. 18 and River Styx Rd), Medina. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, with full military honors.
