Jack A. Brobst, 89, of Medina, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was born in Akron on November 4, 1924 and was raised by the late Raymond and Margaret (Greer) Bauer.
He retired with 41 years as a superintendent of material services at Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Jack was a member of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Medina Aerie #2224 and was a life member of the Medina VFW Post 5137 and Rices Landing, Pennsylvania, American Legion Post 816. He was an avid card and coin collector and enjoyed traveling. Jack loved bowling, fishing, and shooting billiards.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Andree (Bremont) Brobst; his dear children, Richard (Carol) Brobst and Jacqueline Nicodemus; loving grandchildren, Jason Brobst, Amy (Chris) Wendt, Regina (Mike) Brown and Lisa Schrier; and his great-grandchildren, Brittney, Stephen, Brayden, Devon, Calista and Selena.
Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Foltzer; brothers, Douglas and Clyde Brobst; and his beloved aunt, Anne Greer.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Monday, August 4, 2014 at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, with burial with military honors to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 300 N. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
