Charles R. Burgess, 85, of Montville Twp., passed away peacefully Sunday, January 25, 2014. He was born October 26, 1928, to Charles L. and Carrie(nee Stollings ) Burgess in Big Creek, West Virginia.
Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He married Mildred (nee Mullins) on February 13, 1951. He was a member of the Medina Moose Lodge and Medina Eagles Lodge. Charles was a proud graduate of Hitchcock Electronics. He enjoyed helping with anything. He was affectionately known as the “Head Maintenance Man”, assisting at the family’s donut shop in Sharon Center, with his son at CNC Service, as well as his granddaughter’s daycare Sharon’s Little Leapers.
He will be dearly missed by his son, Charles D. (Sharon); daughters, MaryLou (David) Pitocco and Patty Burgess; grandchildren, Frankie (Jim) Marrone, Chuck (Kelly) Burgess and great grandchildren Jimmy, Cooper, Miles, Marisa, Heidi and Charlie; also his siblings, Harry, Raymond (Lois), Dolphine Burgess, Helen Sculberry.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Cecil, Hallie and Deloris Ann.
The family invites friends for visitation Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 3 to 8 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (corner of River Styx and Rt. 18), Medina. Visitation will also be Friday, January 31, 2014, one hour prior from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. to funeral service at 11:30 A.M. also at the funeral home. He will be buried together with his wife Mildred in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
