Melaine Lynn Waskey
Melanie Lynn Waskey, formerly of Brunswick, passed away unexpectely on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She was born December 8, 1980. Melaine was the daughter of Betty Burianek, Elaine Holzman, Thomas M. Waskey and Robin Smith.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Christina (Matt) Ford; Melissa (Scott) Burianek-Artrip; Thomas E. (Becka) Waskey; Robert (Kristina) Burianek; Kevin, Austin and Michael Burianek; Thomas M. Waskey II and Marcus Smith; her children, Michael T. Miller, Matthew Waskey and Madison Belle; nieces, Madison, Hannah, Savannah, Maggie, Taylor, Mackenzie, Genni, Sophia and Olivia; nephews, Gavin and Owen; and granddaughter, Lilianne Miller; friends, Tracy Barnes and Traci Dale.

Gary N. “Joe” Wright, 76, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Hospice of Medina County. He was born January 17, 1939 in Looneyville, West Virginia, to the late Clay Smith and Nell Edith (White) Wright.
Joe loved to race and enjoyed golf, snowmobiling, motorcycles and woodworking. Joe was a 1957 graduate of Spencer High School in West Virginia and moved to Ohio later that year to work at Firestone. They transferred Joe to the Cleveland area, where he became the youngest district manager for Firestone at the time. Joe had a long career as a service manager and in sales for many auto and powersports dealerships. Those included are Miller Pontiac, Don Paul Ford and Schiets Motors in Freemont, Bill Garlic Motors in Bellevue, Four Seasons Yamaha-BMW in Medina and All Seasons Yamaha in Wooster.
He, along with Bob Leaser, was co-owner of the “55 Blue Angel” Floyd Trevis Car. They raced at Fremont Speedway, Eldora, Millstream, Pittsburgh, Mineral Wells (West Virginia), Sharon (Pennsylvania), Heidelburg, Chillicothe, Atomic and Orrville. Joe was inducted into the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame in 2014.
Joe is survived by his beloved daughters, Melonie McKelvey, Anita (Craig) Russell and Krista Wright; dear sister, Nita Messenger; loving companion of 35 years, Connie Zimmerman; stepsons, Scott and Keith (Gail) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Erik (Kristy), Shana and Katie McGrady, Cole Hamilton, Tyler (Kara) Missig and Hunter, Holly, Kendel, Makaela, Brianna and Hadley Zimmerman and 12 great-grandchildren.

William Homer Carter, 65, passed away in Sturgis, South Dakota, Saturday, August 1, 2015, doing what he loved, riding his Harley and smiling ear to ear.

John C. Newell
John C. Newell, 79, of Brunswick, passed away surrounded by his family, Wednesday, August 5, 2015. He was born December 30, 1935 in Cleveland, to the late Thomas and Hannah (nee McCarthy) Newell.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who later went to work for Ohio Bell – Ameritech – AT&T where he retired after 40 years. He will be remembered most for his participation in the Ohio Bell Chorus, Men’s Orpheous Chorus, Lakewood Civic Chorus and St. Ambrose Choir and his love of golf, fishing and model planes. John also enjoyed sports including baseball, basketball, football and hockey. He was a loving and faithful family man and will be missed by everyone who loves him.
Survived by his beloved wife, JoAnne of 53 years; his children, John (Monica) Jr. and Jill (Brian) Russu; his grandson, James Coffey; his brother, Paul Newell and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, T.J and Bob and sister, Mary.

Virginia A. Bambeck
Virginia A. Bambeck, 84, a resident of Granger Township, Medina for 84 years, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Magnolia Village Community, Wadsworth. She was born February 7, 1931, to Edward A. and Addie Ruth (nee Emerson) Reusch.
Virginia was a hard working devoted employee of the Highland Schools. She received the Highland Pride Award in 2005. Virginia’s employment started under the direction of her brother as school bus driver for 34 years, continuing her pride with the school as maintenance custodian of the school and grounds for a total of 50 years. Her love was keeping the grass mowed and piloting her Luscombe two seater airplane. Although she gave up flying per the request of her husband, she was quoted “she dreams about soaring through the skies, flying and floating with no worries.”
Virginia will be dearly missed by her daughter, Joan (Kevin) Bogg of Texas; grandchildren, Joanna (Norm) Spicer, Seth Prohaska and Amanda Prohaska; nephews, James (Rhonda) Reusch, Gene (Ann) Reusch and Ed (Sue) Reusch and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, in 2003 and her brother, Edward “Bud” (Bernice) Reusch.

Robert Schubert
Robert Schubert, 93, of Medina, passed away Wednesday, August, 5, 2015, at Hospice of Medina County, after a short illness. Robert was born May 2, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Harry and Eleanor (Freedman) Schubert.
He later moved and started a family in Dover, Ohio. Robert later moved with his family to Brunswick, where he and his wife, Vera Rogers, of 35 years, started a cabinet company, Mica Made Mfg., which later relocated to Medina. He loved to fish and spent many summers at his home in Ear Falls Ontario, Canada.
Robert is a veteran of World War II, where he earned several medals, including the Air Medal with Oak Leaf in 1944, the Purple Heart with the 460th Bombardment Group, and the European-African Middle Eastern Service medal, among other distinctions. Serving with the 763rd Bomb Squadron in the 15th Army Air Force, while piloting a B-24 bomber, known as the “Liberator,” he safely “ditched” the plane as it took on enemy fire in the Adriatic Sea. He and 10 other airmen were later rescued by the Italian Resistance. Bob went on to fly 24 more missions.
Mr. Schubert is survived by two daughters, Karyn (Stanley) Thomas and Catherine (Raymond) Ryks. He will also leave behind four grandchildren, Amanda (David) Brower, Gretchen (Stephen) Richmond, Robert (Brad) Bean and Michael Bean and eight great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Luke Brower, Ian, Meredith and Zoe Bean, Jakob and Luisa Richmond. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews and remembered by many friends and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera, originally from Cadiz, Ohio; brother, Donald Schubert and sister, Lenore (Schubert) McDonald.
Services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 11 A.M., at the Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina.

Travis J. Wilson, 29, of Medina, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015. He was born in Cleveland on November 1, 1985, to Don and Sue (nee Carnock) Wilson. Travis has resided in Medina County most of life, but he had lived five years in Arizona.
He was a 2004 graduate of Buckeye High School. Travis was employed as a mechanic at Bob’s Mowers & More, Brunswick. He had a great love for motorcycles and four-wheelers riding whenever possible. He was very gifted with the ability to fix anything that was given to him. Travis enjoyed being with his family and friends. The love of his life was his four legged buddy, Mogley.
He will be greatly missed. He was the beloved son of Don and Sue Wilson of Medina; cherished brother of Carli (Jesse) Laux of Medina; devoted uncle of Landon and Rory Laux; dear nephew of Shelle Boulton of Brunswick, Jim (Vicki) Carnock of Brunswick and Sandy Raia of Arizona.
Funeral Service will be held 10 A.M., Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. Calling hours will be Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., in the funeral home. The family has requested attendees dress in casual attire for the services. Lois Jean “Mutz” (nee Rogers) Kessler, 73, of Medina, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015, in Willoughby. She was born May 12, 1942, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Lois and her husband were avid golfers and enjoyed great games of golf together. Lois was also an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed sewing for others.
She was the beloved wife of David E. Kessler; sister of Doris Elersic and Beatrice (Paul) Royko and most loved aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Seth Charles Edward “Chuck” Hofer III
Seth Charles Edward “Chuck” Hofer III passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015. We have lost our beloved Chuck, but now he has been set free to soar away from the bonds of disease that kept him tied down. He was born in Medina, to Seth and Shirley (nee Chapman) Hofer. He was welcomed home by his beloved sister, Darla.
Chuck will be dearly missed by his aunts, Karen (Michael) Carlson, Bonnie Chapman, Sharon Butler, Judy Johnston; uncle, Sherman (Jean) Dotson and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Hofer and Seth Hofer, Jr.; sister, Darla Hofer and uncle, Gary Dotson.
He was a graduate of Valley Forge High School and a most ardent sports fan. He loved movies and music and was just a great guy. May he be in peace and surrounded by God’s love forever.
We would like to thank Willowood Care Center for all the kindness and care they have shown over the years. We thank the Brunswick Kingdom Hall’s brothers and sisters for their friendship and spiritual guidance. We also thank the Cleveland Clinic Hospice and mostly Debbie Paradise, his nurse, who was always there for him.

Vivah E. Walters
Vivah was born October 18, 1909 in Spencer, at the southwest corner of New London Eastern and River Corners Rd. She lived most of the rest of her life on South Main Street in Spencer. She passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Medina, at the age of 105.
Vivah spent most of her adult life working in the general store in Spencer that she and her late husband Norris E. owned. She ran the store most Wednesday afternoons when Norris just had to go hunting or fishing with Lenny Grieve. Vivah was well liked and respected by the store’s patrons because of her friendliness and kindness to everyone. Most people that met her could not help but like her and become her friend. However, so many of her friends are gone, since she outlived most of them. She will be missed by all.
Surviving are, son, Bruce (wife Karen) Walters; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Mark) Paden, Carol (Joe Don) Heath; great-grandchildren, Nick Paden, Erica Paden Roberts, Jackson, Cameron and Savannah Heath; great-great-granddaughter, Avery Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Norris in 1996; grandson, Dale Walters and brother, Rayman Billman.

Helen O. Mattingly, 89, formerly of Chatham Township, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the Elm’s Retirement Village in Wellington. She was born July 12, 1926, in Lodi, to Nelson and Marie (Johnson) Barnum and attended Lodi High School. She was a lifetime resident of Medina County.
Helen worked at National Disposal and Hobart in Medina for a number of years before retiring and was a former member of the Chatham Grange.
Surviving are sons, Tim (Becky) Dull of Spencer, Tom (Phyllis) Dull of Seville; son-in-law, Stephen (Karen) Selzer; 12 grandchildren, Jodie (Tracy), Sandy (Jimmy), Jaime (Jeremy), Tim (Jenn), Amelia (Tom), Tyler (Klorissa), Matt (Tonya), Mark (Julie), Stephen, Danny, Donna (Brandon), John (Tasha); 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Barnum; many nieces and nephews and stepchildren, Sharon, Nancy and Robert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Elaine Selzer; sister, Betty Barnum; brother, John Murton Barnum and stepdaughter, Dawn.

Rosario “Ross” Gibaldi
Rosario “Ross” Gibaldi: The world lost the most beautiful, generous, gracious, loving man Sunday, August 9, 2015. Ross was born in Cleveland and also lived in Brunswick and Valley City.
Because of his love of cars, Ross worked as a mechanic since he could hold a wrench and became a Master Certified Auto Technician. Ross is remembered fondly by many in the area for owning Ross’ R&R Service and Towing in Brunswick from 1972 through 1999. Ross is also remembered for his meticulous restoration of classic cars and was a charter member of the Nifty Fifties Ford Club. Ross loved working on not only his cars, but on the cars of many that came to know him as a friend. After retiring, Ross was able to do what he enjoyed most, spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are Ross’ wife of 55 years, Carol (Paoletta) Gibaldi; son, Mark (Amy) Gibaldi; daughter, Mari (Rick) Engelhart; brother, Emidio “Gibbs” (Sally) Gibaldi; grandchildren, Amanda, Jesse, Kristin and Marisa Hare, Sabrina, Aubrey and Daniel Gibaldi and great-granddaughters, Adrianna and Katherine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vincenzo and brothers, Dominick and Vince.

Nicholas F. Wilson
Nicholas F. Wilson, 55, raced up the dragway to Heaven on Saturday, August 8, 2015.
Nick is survived by his cherished wife, Betsy of 25 years and their children, Nick Jr. and Nancy and his daughters, Kim, Sheila and Nicole, from a previous marriage; Nick also leaves behind his father, Blaine (Linda); his mother, Kathryn and three grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all his drag racing friends and customers, his fellow church members and his loyal dog, Sandy.
Family will receive friends at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Thursday, August 13 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service and burial will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:30 A.M., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road, Valley City.

Vivah Walters
Vivah was born October 18, 1909 in Spencer, at the southwest corner of New London Eastern and River Corners Rd. She lived most of the rest of her life on South Main Street in Spencer. She passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Medina, at the age of 105.
Vivah spent most of her adult life working in the general store in Spencer that she and her late husband Norris E. owned. She ran the store most Wednesday afternoons when Norris just had to go hunting or fishing with Lenny Grieve. Vivah was well liked and respected by the store’s patrons because of her friendliness and kindness to everyone. Most people that met her could not help but like her and become her friend. However, so many of her friends are gone, since she outlived most of them. She will be missed by all.
Surviving are, son, Bruce (wife Karen) Walters; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Mark) Paden, Carol (Joe Don) Heath; great-grandchildren, Nick Paden, Erica Paden Roberts, Jackson, Cameron and Savannah Heath; great-great-granddaughter, Avery Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Norris in 1996; grandson, Dale Walters and brother, Rayman Billman.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at 11 A.M., at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 East Main St., Spencer. Dr. Rev. Deborah Michaels will officiate. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2015, from 6 until 8 P.M., at the funeral home.
Vivah really liked flowers, but even more, she loved her little old church, where she was baptized and married. So in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to New Horizons Lutheran Church, 8439 River Corners Rd., Homerville, OH 44235 or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 300 N. Cleveland Massillon Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
