Beatrice A. “Bea” Tawse

Beatrice A. “Bea” Tawse, 91, of Bellville, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, in Wedgewood Estates Manor House. The daughter of Frank and Linda (Ochs) Mueller, Beatrice was born October 16, 1922 in Brecksville and was graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1941.

On June 28, 1947, she married Raymond A. Tawse. For 17 years, Bea worked as a sales clerk for The May Company, retiring in 1984. In 2003, Bea moved from Wadsworth to Bellville. Bea loved flowers. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Bea is survived by her children, Thomas (Sandra) Tawse of Acworth, Georgia, Linda (Robert) Lull of Bellville, James (Debra) Tawse of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren, Kimberly (Anthony) Brown of Miamisburg, Jason (Amber) Tawse of Spring, Texas, Laura (Chase) Riddle of Butler, and Nicholas Tawse of The Woodlands, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kendall and Addison Brown, Teegan, Tenley, and Kace Riddle; step great-grandchildren, Tyler Potter and Kayden Adkinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Tawse; grandson, Robbie Lull; sisters, Rosemary Cunningham and Kathryn Mravec and brothers, Robert and Richard Mueller, step-grandson, Donald Potter.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 10, 2014, from 4 until 7 P.M., in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 11, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 48 Church Street, Bellville, where Pastor Doug Pretorius will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Ohio Health MedCentral Hospice or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society may be made through the funeral home.

Bea’s family would like to thank the staff of Ohio Health MedCentral Hospice and Wedgewood Estates for the wonderful and attentive care given to Bea.

David Edward Golias

David Edward Golias, 71, of Medina, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014. He was born July 20, 1943 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Andrew and Rose (Tomanek) Golias.

He is the beloved brother of sister, Deborah Golias and Thomas and Martin (Roie Andolina) and dear cousin and caregiver, Anne (Christopher) Cooper.

David worked in the foundry at the Ford Motor Company for over 30 years, where he was given the Distinguished Employee Award for outstanding achievement in quality and caring. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force, where he received an award for outstanding performance of academic duties, when completing courses in Air Traffic Control. He was also certified as a USAF small arms marksman. David was stationed in Spain for four years and was honorably discharged in October of 1967.

David was highly generous to a variety of charities, especially Special Olympics and was commended for his leadership and generosity by the Chairman of the Board. He received the Bronze, Silver, Gold and a place in the Circle of Honor for his support of this charity. He also contributed to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, St. Jude, and March of Dimes. In a letter of appreciation, the president of Feed the Children commended David for his generosity in helping provide 57,144 meals for hungry boys and girls.

David was an amateur photographer and took many creative pictures of his favorite subjects, animal and flowers. He left beautiful photos which is one of his lasting legacies. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who are very grateful that he was such a loving part of their lives.

Mass will be held 10 A.M., Friday, September 12, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

Lois M. Pearson

Lois M. Pearson, 91, of Strongsville, was welcomed into heaven Sunday, September 7, 2014. She was born December 26, 1922 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to the late Samuel and Nellie (nee McDonough) Marks.

As a young woman, she was a deaconess in the Lutheran Church. In her lifetime, she served as a social worker, Christian education director and preschool teacher. She enjoyed music, playing in a bell choir at church, and arts and crafts, providing many beautiful gifts for friends and family. The greatest gift she shared with her family was her abiding faith.

She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Janice (Pastor Scott) Silcox of North Royalton and Renee (Vince) Anaclerio of Auburn, California; loving grandchildren, Joseph and Elisa Regacho and Amanda and Rachel Silcox.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph K. Pearson in 2009; brothers, William (Bill) Marks, Ray Marks, and Samuel Marks II.

Friends and family may call Thursday, September 11, 2014, from 1 until 3 P.M., at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1605 Center Road, Hinckley 44233. Services will follow at 3 P.M., with son-in-law, Pastor Scott Silcox and Pastor Carolyn Wagar-Hier officiating. Interment will follow at Hope Memorial Gardens in Hinckley.

Mary Ann (nee Lawrence) Volk

Mary Ann (nee Lawrence) Volk, 85, formerly of Medina, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014. She was born May 30, 1929 in Valley City, to the late John T. and Katherine Lawrence.

Mary Ann was a 1947 graduate of Liverpool High School. She had attended St. Martin of Tours as a child with her family. Mary Ann was a Nun with the Precious Sisters Blood Order in Dayton, serving 18 years in the convert. She was a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. She had worked at May Company, TRW in the accounting department and lastly worked at Wal-Mart, Medina for 11 years. Mary Ann was devoted to her faith and loved reading and being outdoors.

She is survived by a brother, John (Grace) Lawrence of Wadsworth, and many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Volk in 1996, and two brothers, Andrew (Kay) and Nicholas (Joan) Lawrence.

Funeral Mass will be 11 A.M., Thursday, September 11, 2014, at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City. The Reverend Thomas Dunphy will officiate. Burial will be at St. Martin Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday, from 10 until 11 A.M., in the gathering area of St. Martin’s Church prior to the funeral.

Memorials are suggested the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Wadsworth or charity of donor’s choice.

Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City is handling the funeral arrangements.

Ann Marie Mills

Ann Marie Mills, 80, of Medina, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Hospice of Medina County. She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada and moved to the United States in 1957. Subsequently, she moved to Medina around 1985.

Ann Marie graduated in 1955 from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay) Ontario. She went on to work as a Registered Nurse at various venues and ultimately retired in 1990 after working 30 years at the Sunny Acres Skilled Nursing Facility in Warrensville Township. Ann Marie was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Medina and enjoyed needlework, music, Irish heritage and crossword puzzles.

Ann Marie is survived by her daughter, Marina Mills of Medina; grandchildren, Robert J. Freedline (Lisa) and Rebecca A. Freedline, both of Medina; great grandchildren, Catherine E., Hannah K. and Piper A. Freedline, all of Medina; siblings, J. Eldon Mills (Lucille), A. Lorraine Mills, G. Florence Mills, G. Arnold Mills (Raymonde), F. Arthur Mills (Toby) and Rowena P. Mills; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and V. Elizabeth Mills; and siblings, E. Earl Mills, R. Jerome Mills, C. Myles Mills (Theresa, surviving) and Sr. Alice, MIC.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina, followed by the inurnment at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Marina’s residence following the services.

Bish_EileenEileen M. Giannetta Bish, 54, of Painesville, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014, at her home. She was born November 5, 1959 in Cleveland, to Joseph and Mary Coyne.

Eileen loved to read and was formerly a worship team leader at her church in Medina. She was a member of the ASPCA.

Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Gary; children, Eric Giannetta, Shannon (Matthew) Reese, Rachel (Lee) Barwick; grandchildren, Hunter and Thaddeus; stepchildren, Jeffrey (Shannon) Bish, Gregory (Heidi) Bish, Diana (Brad) Fisher; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jr., Evan, Justin, Ella, Audrey and Nate; siblings, Delia (Scott) Krupp and Joseph (Elizabeth) Coyne.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 8:30 P.M., Thursday, September 11, 2014, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Funeral service will be 8:30 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakewood Park Cemetery at a later date.

OBIT FLAGAdams_ArthurArthur Albert Adams, 80, of Spencer, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014. He was born August 28, 1934, in Dauphin, Pennsylvania, to the late William and Elizabeth (Miller) Adams.

He retired from GM in Parma, with 33 years in tool and die. Arthur was a man of faith and enjoyed fishing and walking through the woods. He would often be found doing what he loved most, “scrapping” – finding anything and everything he could and taking it apart.

Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Thelma L. (O’Bannion) Adams; his loving children, Deborah L. Lawrence, Stephen M. Adams and Ronald D. (Jayne) Adams; his dear grandchildren, Brandy (Michael) Crysler, Crystal Duncan, Yvonne Stewart and Michael, Tiffany, Daniel, and Donald Adams; his great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kiera, Logan, Zoe, Shianne, Caden, Iyanna, Austin, and Charlee and his siblings.

A Funeral Service will be held 12:30 P.M., Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. The Reverend Barbara Henderson, Church of God, will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Edward F. Slane

Slane_EdwardOBIT FLAGEdward F. Slane, 97, of Richfield, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born January 10, 1917 in Cleveland, to the late John and Mary (nee Stubendek) Slaninka.

Edward was a veteran on the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during WWII. He then went to work selling furniture and appliances and eventually became the owner and operator of Eddie’s Furniture in Cleveland. His faith and family were most important to him. He was an active member of St. Colette’s, but was a founding member of five Catholic churches and an avid supporter of St. Ignatius High School. He enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of his property as well as doing crossword puzzles.

Edward will be dearly missed by his loving children, Mary Ellen Slane of North Royalton, John (Mary) Slane of Dublin, Ohio, Anni (Peter) Sluman of Medina, Edward (Ann) Slane of Chesterland, Ohio and Thomas Slane, Brunswick; his eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his brother, Eugene.

He will be reunited with his beloved wife, Helen.

Family will receive friends Friday, September 12, 2014, from 4 until 8 P.M., at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 13, 2014, 10 A.M., at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W 130 St., Brunswick. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.

Baker_BonnieBonnie Sue Baker, 57, of Mansfield, died Monday, September 8, 2014. Born October 9, 1956 in Lodi, she was the daughter of Eugene T. Baker and Dorothy J. (Bartram) O’Higgins.

Always happy and smiling, Bonnie was a great friend and was always concerned for others. Forever a fan of jewelry and sparkly things, she loved going shopping, eating out at restaurants, listening to country music and talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers. Flip flops and funky socks were just a couple of her favorite things. She was happily employed with Richland Newhope from 1977 to her retirement in 2012.

Surviving are her cat, Paisley; special friends, Chris Orr and Connie Orr; caregivers, Micki’s Creative Options Staff who provided her excellent care and loved her so much; and her nurses, Pam Nelson and Carla Rice; mother, Dorothy O’Higgins; sisters, Sandy Bridenthal, Debra Hammond and Nancy Jo Winkler; and brothers, Keith and Brett Baker.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father.

A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Nate Meiers. Family and friends are invited to visit one hour prior, from 10 to 11 A.M. Burial will take place in Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:30 A.M.

Johns_JudyJudy A. Johns, 76, of Seville, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Fred and Borghild Duncan.

Judy lived in Seville for the past 27 years. She enjoyed working puzzles, flowers, hanging wallpaper and collecting chickens. She was an avid sports fan of the Browns and Indians.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Hubert (Dru) Johns, Sr.; son, Hubert (Sandy) Johns, Jr. (wife Kayla) of Drexel, Missouri; and daughter, Judy (Bill) Link of Ebensburo, Pennsylvania; sisters, Linda Avis, Republic, Michigan, and Elizabeth (Cookie) Hatley, Ft. Smith, Arkansas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by infant daughter. Joyce and son, Preston.

Service will be Monday, September 15, 2014, at 11 A.M., from the Armstrong Funeral Home, State Route 3, Seville. Friends may call Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2014, from 4 until 6 P.M., at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Mound Hill Cemetery, Seville.

Paladino_LynOBIT FLAGLyn A. Paladino, longtime resident of Medina, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. He was 90. Mr. Paladino was born in New Rochelle, New York, one of fifteen children, to Joseph and Janet Paladino.

He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 aboard the USS New Jersey, as a crew member. He was a proud plank owner, an honor accorded the first crew on a battleship. He served in eleven battles in the Pacific Theatre and received recognition for them. He was honorably discharged as a coxswain.

Mr. Paladino was a graduate of Champlain College, Plattsburg, New York and Columbia University Teachers College, Master’s level graduate. He taught in two high schools: Clarkstown in New City, New York and Black River High School in Sullivan, Ohio. He also taught at West Virginia Technical College, Jersey City State College, Clark College, Mayville State College, and Central Michigan University. At Mayville State, he was Chair of the English Department at the rank of Associate Professor. In the 1970s, he conducted creative writing courses at the Supplementary Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

He adapted, directed, and produced the narrative, “John Brown’s Body” by Stephen Vincent Benet at both West Virginia Technical College and Black River High School. In that production, he spoke the lines of Lincoln. At West Virginia Technical College, he played the part of Nathan Detroit in “Guys and Dolls,” where he learned to sing on stage.

Lyn Paladino was an accomplished writer. His poems and nature essays appeared in academic literary magazines and in regional and national periodicals. His two books of poetry are Kingdom for the Windhooker and Other Poems (1963) and The Horological Tree (1979). He was also a visual artist. At age twelve he received a painting scholarship to study with a student of Edouard Manet. His illustrations often accompanied his nature essays.

In retirement he served as a volunteer caring for the hungry and homeless through Operation Homes, Meals on Wheels, and Project M.U.N.C.H.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marcia, whom he married in 1966; by his sons and daughters-in-law, Lance Paladino and Kimberly Haynes, Kyle and Layne Paladino; his one grandchild, Ethan Lyn Paladino; three step grandchildren, Paige Luburgh Parks, Hanna and Slade Luburgh; by sisters, Gloria Mandracchia, Anna Marie Golden and Janet Alberti; by his brother, Joseph Paladino and numerous loving nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Camille, Vincenza (Vee), Eleanor, and Yolanda and brothers, Michael, Patrick, James (Vincent), and Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Lung Association, Operation Smile, Audubon Society of Ohio, and Hospice of Medina County.

Visiting hours will be Monday, September 15, 2014, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 P.M., at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina. Chester J. Pucilowski

OBIT FLAGChester J. Pucilowski, 84, of Medina, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Cleveland Metro Health Medical Center. Pucilowski sustained serious injuries in a fall at his home in Medina.

A native of Toledo, he graduated from Burnham High School, Sylvania Ohio, in 1949; served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Macon from 1952 to 1955; severed in the Sylvania Volunteer Fire Department; and graduated from the University of Toledo in 1960. He was the Assistant Plant Manager at Baron Drawn Steel Corporation in Toledo 1960 to 1977. The Pucilowski family moved from Toledo to Medina in June of 1977. Pucilowski was Vice President of Bliss & Laughlin Steel in Medina from 1977 until he retired in 1997. Deeply involved in the community, he was a former Medina City Councilman, member and Treasurer of the Medina Assembly of God, member and past president of the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, and member and past President of Medina Toastmasters Club 941. He was also a member of the Medina County Bar Association Grievance Committee, Medina City Planning Commission, Friends of Medina County Parks Incorporated, Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, University of Toledo Alumni Association, and Medina Browns Backers Club.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Pucilowski; sons, Joseph L. Pucilowski and Michael A. Pucilowski; daughter, Reva J. Keaton; grandchildren, Stephanie Keaton, Sarah Pucilowski, Michael A. Pucilowski II, Preston Pucilowski, Callie Pucilowski; and great-grandchild, Lily Faiola; sister, Stella Bacarella and brother, Henry Pucilowski (deceased).

Services will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 6 P.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Pastor Adam Allen will officiate. Family will receive friends Tuesday, from 3 until 6 P.M., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made Medina Assembly of God, Medina. Private interment will occur at Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.

Jeffers_BettyBetty L. Jeffers, 84, of Rittman, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Altercare of Wadsworth with her loved ones by her side. She was born April 15, 1930, in Bellaire, Ohio, to the late William and Estella (Shaw) Palmer.

Betty married Russell Jeffers on March 9, 1947 and they were happily married for over 64 years until his passing in 2011. She was currently a member of Radiant Life Church in Wadsworth, a former member of Calvary Assembly Church in Orrville and also worked for Brown’s Cleaners for over 25 years. She enjoyed working with ceramics, ironing, washing clothes, the Cleveland Indians, going camping and word finds.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ralph) Nee of Sterling; grandchildren, Dana (Rich) Berlin of Rittman, Daniel Griffin, Jr. of Orrville, Darrell (Hope) Griffin of Wooster, and Darren Griffin of Sterling; brothers, Gene (Deloris) Palmer of Creston and Dale (Karen) Palmer of Cary, North Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant son; brothers, Fred and Bill Palmer; and an infant sister, Violet.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman, with Pastor Ray Grams officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Monday, September 15, 2014 in the funeral home.

Wouken_HelenHelen Wokoun, 95, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was born July 5, 1919 in Washington, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Catherine Gersna.

Helen was a founding member of the St. Ambrose Women’s Guild and the Isabella Guild. She was a member of the Counting Crew #2 and volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, the Brunswick Food Pantry and St. Ambrose Bingo. She loved golfing on the Tuesday/Thursday golf league at Brunswick Hills Golf Course.

Helen was a cashier for 22 years at Country Counter and Kroger’s. She was a very special lady who loved her family and friends very much.

She is survived by her son, Pete (Jude) Wokoun; daughter, Geri (Terry) Mahring; grandchildren, Peter Wokoun, Jr., Jennifer Wokoun, Dave (Sonja) Wokoun, Kevin Wokoun, Daniel (Stephanie) Wokoun, Judy Ann (James) Wokoun, Scott (Wendy) Mahring and Greg (Bridget) Mahring; great-grandchildren, Raven, Sarah, Kenzi and Ashler; and also loved Heaven, Anna, Angelina and Avalyn; and special niece, Nance (Ken) Kessler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; and son, Robert Wokoun.

Friends and family may call Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, (Rt. 303 near I-71). Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11 A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Rd., Brunswick. Private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.

Chester J. Pucilowski

OBIT FLAGPucilowski_ChesterChester J. Pucilowski, 84, of Medina, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Cleveland Metro Health Medical Center. Pucilowski sustained serious injuries in a fall at his home in Medina.

A native of Toledo, he graduated from Burnham High School, Sylvania Ohio, in 1949; served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Macon from 1952 to 1955; severed in the Sylvania Volunteer Fire Department; and graduated from the University of Toledo in 1960. He was the Assistant Plant Manager at Baron Drawn Steel Corporation in Toledo 1960 to 1977. The Pucilowski family moved from Toledo to Medina in June of 1977. Pucilowski was Vice President of Bliss & Laughlin Steel in Medina from 1977 until he retired in 1997. Deeply involved in the community, he was a former Medina City Councilman, member and Treasurer of the Medina Assembly of God, member and past president of the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, and member and past President of Medina Toastmasters Club 941. He was also a member of the Medina County Bar Association Grievance Committee, Medina City Planning Commission, Friends of Medina County Parks Incorporated, Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, University of Toledo Alumni Association, and Medina Browns Backers Club.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Pucilowski; sons, Joseph L. Pucilowski and Michael A. Pucilowski; daughter, Reva J. Keaton; grandchildren, Stephanie Keaton, Sarah Pucilowski, Michael A. Pucilowski II, Preston Pucilowski, Callie Pucilowski; and great-grandchild, Lily Faiola; sister, Stella Bacarella and brother, Henry Pucilowski (deceased).

Services will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 6 P.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Pastor Adam Allen will officiate. Family will receive friends Tuesday, from 3 until 6 P.M., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made Medina Assembly of God, Medina. Private interment will occur at Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.

Lyn A. Paladino

OBIT FLAGPaladino_LynLyn A. Paladino, longtime resident of Medina, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. He was 90. Mr. Paladino was born in New Rochelle, New York, one of fifteen children, to Joseph and Janet Paladino.

He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 aboard the USS New Jersey, as a crew member. He was a proud plank owner, an honor accorded the first crew on a battleship. He served in eleven battles in the Pacific Theatre and received recognition for them. He was honorably discharged as a coxswain.

Mr. Paladino was a graduate of Champlain College, Plattsburg, New York and Columbia University Teachers College, Master’s level graduate. He taught in two high schools: Clarkstown in New City, New York and Black River High School in Sullivan, Ohio. He also taught at West Virginia Technical College, Jersey City State College, Clark College, Mayville State College, and Central Michigan University. At Mayville State, he was Chair of the English Department at the rank of Associate Professor. In the 1970s, he conducted creative writing courses at the Supplementary Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

He adapted, directed, and produced the narrative, “John Brown’s Body” by Stephen Vincent Benet at both West Virginia Technical College and Black River High School. In that production, he spoke the lines of Lincoln. At West Virginia Technical College, he played the part of Nathan Detroit in “Guys and Dolls,” where he learned to sing on stage.

Lyn Paladino was an accomplished writer. His poems and nature essays appeared in academic literary magazines and in regional and national periodicals. His two books of poetry are Kingdom for the Windhooker and Other Poems (1963) and The Horological Tree (1979). He was also a visual artist. At age twelve he received a painting scholarship to study with a student of Edouard Manet. His illustrations often accompanied his nature essays.

In retirement he served as a volunteer caring for the hungry and homeless through Operation Homes, Meals on Wheels, and Project M.U.N.C.H.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marcia, whom he married in 1966; by his sons and daughters-in-law, Lance Paladino and Kimberly Haynes, Kyle and Layne Paladino; his one grandchild, Ethan Lyn Paladino; three step grandchildren, Paige Luburgh Parks, Hanna and Slade Luburgh; by sisters, Gloria Mandracchia, Anna Marie Golden and Janet Alberti; by his brother, Joseph Paladino and numerous loving nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Camille, Vincenza (Vee), Eleanor, and Yolanda and brothers, Michael, Patrick, James (Vincent), and Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Lung Association, Operation Smile, Audubon Society of Ohio, and Hospice of Medina County.

Visiting hours will be Monday, September 15, 2014, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 P.M., at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina. A celebration of his life will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:30 A.M., at Waite & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.

OBIT FLAGMarvin Otto Leach, 91, resident of Meadowview Care Center in Seville, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014. He was born February 21, 1923 in Wadsworth, to Noble and Amanda (nee Olinger) Leach.

Marvin served in the United States Army during WWII. He was owner of M.O. Leach Plumbing and Heating which he operated over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha (nee Frase); his sons and daughters, John (Coralee) of Sharon Center, Mary (Guy) Naccarato of Florida, Charles (Patric) of Akron, Allen (Brenda) of Seville and Susan Leach-Murray of Indiana; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and sister, Donna Jean Curie of Orrville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Polly.

Services are private. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
