Powell Andrew Ulich of San Diego, California, died suddenly Wednesday, May 26, 2013. The son of the late Carl and Bertha Ulich, he was born July 25, 1944, and graduated from Medina High School in 1964.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force in Southeast Asia, he attended Cooper School of Art in Cleveland. While working for Texaco in Nevada and California, he established himself as a talented artist, architect and builder. In San Diego, Powell studied art within the Palomar Art Program and belonged to the San Diego Portrait Society as well as the Escondido Watercolor Society.
Friends and family celebrate Powell’s Christian empathy, quiet nature, conservative outlook, and optimism.
In California, he leaves behind his wife, Anita; son, Paul; and daughter, Summer (Rob) Thorson and children. In Medina, he is survived by older brother, Carl (Dorothy) and younger brother, Robert (Linda) and their families.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and military internment will follow later.
