Christena “Tina” Truex, 97, of Rittman, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013. She was born October 5, 1915, married Herbert Truex in 1931, lived in Seville many years and wintered in Okachobie, Florida.
Christena was an active member of Seville First Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Rittman. She was a member of the Ladies Missionary Guild, served as a deacon and was very active in many church activities. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling and most of all, her family. She had been employed at the Ohio Match Company for 32 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; infant son, Ivan; parents, John and Clara (Rook) Schlegel; and grandson, Scott Long.
She is survived by daughters, Beverly of Fredricksburg, Virginia and Evelyn (Richard) Long, Wadsworth Township; son, Don Truex of Rittman; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Service will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013, 11 A.M., at the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Road, Seville. The family will receive friends in the church parlor Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 5 until 8 P.M., and one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Rittman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Great Lakes Caring, 1530 West Market St., Akron, OH 44313, or a charity of ones choice.
