Wesley I. Williams, Sr.

Wesley I. Williams, Sr., 62, of West Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. Wesley was born March 28, 1950 in Ghent, West Virginia the son of Orville and Vivian (Nichols) Williams, Jr.

He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam Era. He had been employed as a truck driver for Genes Trucking in Cleveland and later worked at Invacare in Lodi and Elyria. He was a member of Church of the Open Door in Lodi and the James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem.

He is survived by his wife, Joni L. (Beard) Williams, whom he married December 18, 1993; three children, Amy Williams of Twinsburg, Christy Merritt of Mansfield and Wesley (Melissa) Williams, Jr. of Nova; four grandchildren, Blaze and Breeze Anable, Makayla and Wesley Williams III; three brothers, Orville (Shirley) Williams III of West Virginia, Frank Williams of Sullivan and Kenny (Sue) Williams of Michigan; and three sisters, Frances Robbins of Indiana, Alicia (Hank) Vincent of West Virginia and Julia Cagle of Medina.

His parents and a brother, Johnny, died previously.

Memorial service will be Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 1 P.M. at the Church of the Open Door in Lodi, with Pastors Joseph Rock and Steve Cisney officiating. Military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Post 499 of West Salem.

Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.
