Joseph M. Pauer, 78, of Homerville, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at Hospice of Medina County. He was born March 7, 1935 in Lakewood, the son of Joseph and Mildred (Novotny) Pauer.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1963. He retired May 2005 from Jacobson Company in Medina, where he was a machinist. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in West Salem.
He is survived by two children, Thomas Joseph and Gayle J.T. Pauer of Berea, and Marirose Power of Medina; a grandson, Christian; and two brothers, Lyle (Veronica) Pauer of Brecksville and James F. Pauer of Avon Lake.
His parents; wife, Rosemary; and brother, John C. Pauer died previously.
Friends will be received at the Matteson Funeral Home, 40 Congress St., West Salem, on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 11 A.M., at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 44 Britton St., West Salem, with Father James P. Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi, where military service will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem.
