Mellie Ramey, 84, of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Hospice of Medina County, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Elkhorn City, Kentucky on April 28, 1928, to Walter and Ruby (Ratliff) Conley and was a graduate of Elkhorn City High School. She resided in Spencer for the past 51 years.
Mellie had been a homemaker and loved cooking for her family, making quilts, and tending to her roses. She was also an avid LeBron James fan. She was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the United Methodist Women Society and past member of the Spencer American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy, to whom she was married to for 60 years; sons, Ed (Patty) Ramey of Lodi, Donald (Colette) Ramey of Polk; grandchildren, Jonathan (Sherrie) Schuck of Powell, Ohio, Josh (Kim) Ramey of Polk, Samantha Ramey of Polk, and Parker Ramey of Columbus; great grandchildren, Austin and Brayden Schuck, and Bryar and Kendall Ramey; sisters, Nell (Tommy) Hall of Spencer, Mary Donna (Dave) Doksa of Olmsted Falls; brothers, Billy Ray (Eleanor) Conley of Medina, Jimmy Conley of Elkhorn City, Ohio, Russell (Fonda) Conley of Flat Woods, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Billie Jo Schuck; infant granddaughter, Sandra Ramey; sisters, Tootsie Ratliff, Betty Jean Cure, Lois Ann Atkins; and brothers, Ernest and Ronnie Dean Conley.
Funeral service will be Saturday, April 6, 2013, 11 A.M., at the Spencer United Methodist Church, 201 East Main St., Spencer. Reverend Dr. Tim Morrison will officiate. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., at the Spencer United Methodist Church.
