Alice Lenore Curtis, 88, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Medina and Fremont, Ohio and Little River, South Carolina, passed away peacefully Monday, March 14, 2016, at Concordia Care Center in Springfield. Alice was born July 4, 1927, in Cleveland, to William Petrie and Alice Frances Zak Russell. She married her second husband, Raymond Andrews Curtis in 1978 and he preceded her in death.
After graduating from John Adams High School, Alice received her bachelor’s degree from Baldwin Wallace College. Mrs. Curtis taught English in several high schools in Medina and Fremont, Ohio. In later years, she was the head librarian for the North Myrtle Beach Library System.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Russell (Janice) Williams, of Pawnee, Illinois and Randy (Sandy) Williams of Enoree, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tobey (Jason) Rhodes, Ramsey (Sheref) Unal, Shannon (Brad) Medling, Corey (Tim) Newsome, Jordan (Kate) Williams, Tyler (Whitney) Williams, Clay (Kanani) Williams, Carson Williams and Betty Tonui and 19 great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held. She was laid to rest with her husband at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, South Carolina.
