George R. Hopkins, 89, of Valley City, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016. George was a lifelong resident of Valley City.
He was a member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City. George was a machinist and mechanic. He had worked for Horsburgh & Scott Co. East Cleveland, prior to retiring.
He enjoyed roller skating, photography, woodworking and raising a beautiful garden. George took great joy in square dancing with his companion, Sandy Diestler.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Patricia (Kevin) DeJean of Westlake, Richard (Deborah) Hopkins of Wadsworth, Nancy (Michael) Krupar of Wellington and Sandra (Frank) Kittrick of Litchfield; grandchildren, Anne (Anthony) Stein, Christine (Rodney) Gerlach, Kevin Jr. (Cindy) DeJean, Aaron (Lacey) Hopkins, Heather McKim (Mike), Aubrey (Antonio) Butler and Brian Kittrick (Mary); great-grandchildren, Theresa, Maria, Jessica, Victoria, Camren and Brianna; brother, William (Cathy) Hopkins of New Jersey and sister, Margaret Burdick of Sagamore Hills.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hopkins in 1999.
Family and friends are asked to meet at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, for George’s Funeral Mass at 10 A.M., Monday, February 15, 2016. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memory Garden, Brunswick. Calling hours will be Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 2 to 5 P.M., at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City.
