Herbert R. Wiles, 81, of Lodi, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic, following a lengthy period of declining health. He was born August 27, 1934 in Congress, Ohio, to Clark and Leona (Hamilton) Wiles.
He graduated from Rittman High School and had lived most of his life in Lodi. Herb worked as a mechanic for a number of employers, which included Harrisville Township and the Akron Beacon Journal. He retired from Yellow Freight in 1999.
Herb was a member of Harrisville Masonic Lodge #137 F&AM. Herb had been a Boy Scout Leader, Little League coach and an avid golfer. He also loved building and racing stock cars.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marlene (Cabell) Wiles; daughter, Christi (Bob) Meyer of Wooster; sons, Herb (Pamela) Wiles, Jr. of Sullivan and Keith Wiles of Wooster; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and brother, Gerald (Jean) Wiles of Dalton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shelly; infant grandson, Ryan Wiles; great-grandson, Caleb Blake; sisters, Pearl, Trulah and Frances and an infant brother, Donald.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11 A.M., at the Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, (330) 948-1122. Ted Schumacher and Bob Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Canaan Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 6 to 9 P.M., at the funeral home, where Masonic Services will begin at 8:45 P.M.
