Sheldon A. Hollopeter

Hollopeter_SheldonAAA - don't move -OBIT FLAGSheldon A. Hollopeter, 95, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side, Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was born July 2, 1920 in Akron, to the late Ray and Velma (Spicher) Hollopeter.
Sheldon attended Sharon School and Eastern Mennonite College. He served in Army Air Force during World War II. He was part of the second generation that owned and operated Medina Tractor for many years and he enjoyed managing his restaurants Fodorette and the Cottage Inn. Sheldon loved flying in his Cessna, playing the guitar and the harmonica, following the Indians and the Browns and working in his yard. He will always be remembered for his positive spirit, generosity and helping those in need.
He is survived by his children, Brent (Bonnie) Hollopeter of Medina, Evan (Toni) Hollopeter of Chatham, Reed (Lois) Hollopeter of Lafayette, Lisa (Steve) Cook of Indianapolis, and Jim (Diane) Bednar of Columbus; grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan, Jamie, Michael, Sierra, Emry, Landon, Kyle, Kevin and Katelyn; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Kathryn) Hollopeter of Medina and sister, Wilma Shank of Indiana. He will be greatly missed by his caretaker, Niki, who provided him with much travel, loving care and enjoyment in his last year.
Sheldon is preceded in death by his wives, Paula Ruth (Haske) Hollopeter and Shirley Ann (Beck) Hollopeter; brothers, Carl and Raymond Hollopeter and sister, Phoebe Yoder.
Services will be held Monday, December 28, 2015, at 12 Noon, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Pastor Laura Fitt-Baird will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday, from 10 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the S.P.C.A., 245 S. Medina St., Medina, OH 44256 or Boy Scouts of America Great Trail Council 1601 S. Main St. Akron, OH 44301.
