Mason_CarlAA - don't move -OBIT FLAGCarl J. Mason, 82, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, in Medina. Carl was born October 15, 1933 in Marion, South Carolina, to the late Reverend Wesley and Illa (Legett) Mason.
Carl joined the U.S. Army and served his country admirably during the Korean War, receiving such medals as the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and the Nation Service Defense Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in February of 1959. Carl retired as a driver for TLT-Babcock in Medina.
Carl was a trustee at Second Baptist Church of Medina, where he was a faithful member and dedicated worker. He helped organize the Westside Community Family Life Center for the purpose of helping needy families. Carl was one of the Cleveland Indians most devoted fans, never missing a single game on TV and always letting you know if someone stood in front of the TV.
Carl is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Miss Rachel E. Mason.
He is survived by his loving children, Cheryl, Carl and Darryl Mason; four grandchildren, Aliyah, Wesley, Brianna and Jaelyn; brother, Thomas (Bertha) Mason and sister, Queen (Benjamin) Dentley. Carl is also preceded in death by his siblings, Bernice, Nathaniel, Euzelia, Wesley, Susie Mae and Charles.
Services will be held 12 Noon, Friday, November 27, at Second Baptist Church, 451 Bronson St., Medina. The Reverend Russell Burden will officiate. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M., until 12 Noon, at the church, on Friday before services.
