Richard Kenneth (Dick) Burton

AA - don't move -OBIT FLAGBurtonRichardRichard Kenneth (Dick) Burton, 92, of Wadsworth, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015. Dick was born April 20, 1923 in Elyria, to the late Burr and Nellie (Jenkins) Burton. Dick was one of five sons, all of whom have preceded him in death.
On August 20, 1949, Dick married Rosemary Ann Rook, who also preceded him in death in June 1986. On September 6, 1991, Dick married Marjorie Lance.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Lance) Burton of 24 years, as well as his children, Barbara (David) Burton-Alpine and Rickard Kenneth Burton, Jr.; grandchildren, Travis (Angel) Bredon, Amber (Matt) Teigen, Christina Burton, Ann Marie (Woody) Burton-Cooper, Nicholas Burton and Michael Burton and four great-grandchildren, Lily and Grant Bredon, Treydon Teigen and Liam Cooper. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Bud (Brenda) Lance and Linda Conner (Marjorie’s children).
Dick was a member of the Lodi Methodist Church for over 50 years, the Lodi American Legion for over 50 years, the Harrisville Masonic Lodge for over 65 years, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Wadsworth VFW 1089, the Tadmor Shrine Temple in Akron and the Ohio Retired Teachers Assoc.
Dick was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in North Africa and Italy from 1942 to 1945. He was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed years of camping with family and friends. Dick was a huge Ohio State fan, “A Buckeye Born and Bred, a Buckeye “till I’m dead”.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 P.M. and also one hour prior to the funeral Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 10 to 11 A.M., at the Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, (330) 948-1122. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dick’s name to, The Ohio Veterans’ Memorial Park, 8005 Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Clinton, OH 44216.
