Jerry R. Baker, 77, of Medina, passed away into his Heavenly home Monday, September 7, 2015. Jerry was born May 1, 1938 in Avon, Illinois, to the late Kenneth and Hulda (nee Sticks) Baker. He resided in Medina County since 1957.
Jerry was a founding member of the New Life Christian Fellowship Church, Medina. He and his family were involved in the construction of the church building. Jerry retired from the CSX Railroad after 43 years of service. He started out working at the Lester Railway, worked as a dispatcher at the Akron Metro Building and in his final years as a Rail Clerk at the Brook Park Station. Jerry had a gift for fixing or building many mechanical projects and he also enjoyed woodworking.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois, of 56 years; dear sons, Donald of Rittman, Brian (Jennifer) of Alabama, Stephen of Rittman and the late Jeffrey Bryon, who passed in 1964; cherished grandson, Jeffery Baker; dear brother of Marvin Baker and Suzanne Fitch, both of Illinois and the late Richard Baker.
Funeral Service will be 12 Noon, Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the New Life Christian Fellowship Church, 580 N. State Road, Medina, with Pastor Ted Hall officiating. Calling hours will be Friday, September 11, 2015 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City and Saturday from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon at the church prior to the service. Burial will at York Township Cemetery, Mallet Creek, Ohio.
Memorials are suggested if desired to the New Life Christian Fellowship Church.
