Fern Ruth Detwiler

Fern Ruth Detwiler, 88, of Seville, died peacefully Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Apostolic Christian Home, following a brief illness. Fern was born March 17, 1924, on the family farm near Wadsworth, to the late Joseph and Edna (Luedy) Winkler.

On June 28, 1947 she married Earl L. Detwiler, who preceded her in death on December 15, 1994. She worked at the Ohio Match and retired from the cafeteria at Cloverleaf School District. She was an active member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the United Friends Sunday School Class and where she had been a Luther League Councilor. She was a member of the Hubbard Valley Neighbors Club, and the Acme Belles Quartet. Fern started the first girls softball team in Seville, and enjoyed playing Euchre and raising flowers.

Surviving are her children, Karen (Bob) Rager and Ron (Sue) Detwiler, both of Seville, and Kenneth Detwiler; five grandchildren, Brent Rager, Megan Rager, Alison Lawrence, Adam Detwiler and Logan Detwiler; two great grandchildren, Austin and Madison Lawrence; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Steven, in 2002; brothers, Harry and Charles Winkler; and sisters, Ella Taylor, Hilda Winkler, Alice Winkler and Doris Roth.

Service will be Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11 A.M. at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Seville, with Reverend Dr. Edward Kropa officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, November 27, 2012, from 4 until 8 P.M., at Murray Funeral Home, Creston, and one hour prior to service at the Church.

Memorials may be made to Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Rd., Seville, OH 44273; or the Apostolic Christian Home, 10680 Steiner Rd., Rittman, OH 44270.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Hospice of Wayne Co., and the Apostolic Christian Home for their wonderful care of Fern. Your kindness will always be remembered.
