Joy Ann Thompson (nee Myers), 76, of Medina, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Joy was born in Seville, to the late Robert and Mildred Myers, along with her deceased brother, Thomas.
She attended Seville High School. After graduating high school and receiving her degree in medical technology, she worked at Akron General Hospital for several years. In 1962, Joy married the love of her life, Edward, married for 47 years before Edward’s passing in 2012.
After living in Medina for 43 years, Joy and Edward retired to Sarasota, Florida, where they were avid golfers. She and Edward were past members of the TPC at Prestancia, Clifton Club, Rustic Hills Country Club, and Rawiga Country Club. Joy enjoyed spending the winters skiing with friends and family at Peek-n-Peak Ski Resort in New York. Even though Joy was not a very successful gambler, she loved spending time with friends at the casino. Joy thoroughly loved her children and grandchildren and dedicated her life to being the best Mom and Grandma.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenifer A. (James) Weiss of Medina; son, Edward C. (Anne) Thompson, Jr. of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Victoria, Hannah, Mason Weiss and Abby, Edward C. Thompson III.
A private family service will be held Friday, February 6, 2015.
