Robert Schroeder, 90, of Seville died Sunday, October 19, 2014. Born November 14, 1923, he was the son of Walter and Martha Schroeder.
Robert was a World War II Army Veteran U.S. Artillery and a member of the Chatham VFW. He was a former farmer, truck driver and retiree of Akron Products. Robert was a charter member of the Wayside Market Senior Advisory Board. Known for his quick wit, he brightened the day of those around him with an endless list of jokes he carried in his pocket.
A friend to many and especially loved by his wife of 29 years, Martha Schroeder; step-children, John (Cheryl) Hewit, Rick (Kathy) Hewit, Kathy (Phil) Reining, Tom (Laurie) Hewit and Terri (Gary) Hedges; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert, Walter Jr. and Lawrence (Alice) Schroeder; and sister, Virginia Smith and 25 nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Schroeder, Ruth Echle and Martha Ferrell; sisters-in-law, Jean and Beulah; brothers-in-law, Floyd Echle and Joe Smith; his first wife, Vivian; step-children, Gary Eichler and Russell Hewit, Jr. and his beloved dog, Pete.
A memorial service with military burial will be held 2 P.M., Monday, October 27, 2014 at Seville Presbyterian Church. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Medina County Inpatient Care Center or Seville Presbyterian Church.
