OBIT FLAGTravis_RobertRobert E. Travis, 79, of Lodi, went home to be with Jesus Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at his home. He was born in Lodi, October 3, 1934 to James E. and Etta (Townsend) Travis. He attended Lodi School and had lived in Lodi for most of his life.

He served with the U.S. Air Force in northern Alaska during the Korean War. Robert had been an assistant foreman at the A I Root Co. in Medina and later worked as a dispatcher for Campbell Oil Co., retiring in 1979.

In his younger days he enjoyed playing softball. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and loved watching old westerns.

Surviving are his wife, Betty (nee Akers) to whom he married on February 14, 1976; three sons, Rex (Janet) Travis of Lodi, Rob and David Travis of Lodi; five gandchildren, Nicole, Kristi Ann, Rex, Cameron and Troy; several great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Travis of Lodi; his beloved dachshunds, Angel and Lance; his good friends and neighbors, Harry and Larry Leiby

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Jo Baker.

The family would like to thank Debbie Baxter for her loving touch and a special thank you to Hospice of Medina County for their wonderful care.

Interment, with military honors, will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman on Tuesday, August 26, at 2 P.M. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014, 2 P.M., at Pine Villas Community Center in Lodi. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lodi Preschool and Childcare, 302 Highland Dr., Lodi OH 44254.
