Harold E. Garberich, 92, of Lodi, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Emeritus of Medina. He was born in Lodi on March 22, 1922, to Ward Elroy and Blanche (Barnard) Garberich and was a 1940 graduate of Lodi High School. Harold was born, raised and had lived in the same house his entire life and had been a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of the New Horizons Lutheran Church in Homerville, where he had served as trustee and cemetery treasurer and caretaker for many years. He had also worked on the Medina County Election Board in his earlier years and was a longtime member of the Lodi Historical Society. Harold very much loved his International tractors.
Survivors include his sister, Wanda Kerr of Ashland; sister-in-law, Ruby Garberich of Lodi; nieces and nephews, Steve (Barb) Kerr, Beth (Matt) Hickman, Cheri (Jack) Jensen, Becky (Gregg) Schaughency, Kathy Lee, Janet (Greg) Massie; step-nieces and nephews, William and Pauline Bittner, Jack and Lorraine Bittner, Mary and Fred Cheney; eight great-nieces and nephews; 13 great-great-nieces and nephews; and numerous step-great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Bittner; brother, Duane Garberich; and nephew, John Garberich.
Funeral service will be Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. Reverend Dr. Deborah Michaels will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lodi. Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
