Walter F. Schoenberger

Walter F. Schoenberger, 63, Valley City, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 with his family by his side, following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Cleveland and resided in Cuyahoga County, until moving to Valley City in 2001.

Wally was the night printing and night operation manager at the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He enjoyed cooking and gardening. Wally took great pride in landscaping around his home and enjoyed the beauty of the natural setting.

He never failed to say it like it was and put his own witty spin on life and will greatly be missed by us all.

Wally is survived by his wife, Cheri, married in 1997; his father, Frank Schoenberger; sisters, Friede Lindsey and Christine (Richard) Welker; sister-in-law, Kim Summers; nieces and nephews, Michelle (Bob) Lindsey, Christopher Lindsey, Jonathan (Kara) Lindsey, Rebecca (Daniel) Crew, Amanda Welker and Cassidy Summers; great-niece and nephews, Leyna, Bennett and Lennon.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Irma (nee Lenner) Schoenberger.

Family and friends are asked to meet at 11 A.M., Friday, August 8, 2014, for the Funeral Mass for Wally, at St. Martin of Tours Chapel, 1800 Station Road Valley City, with the Reverend Thomas Dunphy officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery, Valley City. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to Wally’s home for a Celebration of his Life gathering.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made be made, in Wally’s name, to Wine and Wishes Foundation/Akron Children’s Hospital.

Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City, has the honor of serving the Schoenberger family.
