On Tuesday, July 1, 2014, Angels brought Janie Johnson home to rest in the arms of the Lord. Janie was the ninth child born to Willie Burke and Florence Cole in Jackson, Mississippi, May 15, 1925.
In 1959, Janie moved to Medina, where she became a notable seamstress and day care provider.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Johnson in 1965. She later met Jake Johnson, Jr. They had a long friendship for over 40 years, until he passed away in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ernestine Bussey; and great-grandson, Mantrell Price.
Left to celebrate her home going are her grandson, Jerry Coleman (Maccie) of Camden Tennessee; and granddaughter, Hertistine Price (Graylon) of Akron; her great-granddaughter, Deborah Price of Medina; great-grandsons, Dennis Coleman of Akron, Jeremy and Marcus Coleman of Camden, Tennessee. She also leaves behind her great-great grandchildren, Lashawna Price, Shardae Tucker and Tyler Price. She will also be missed by her great-great-great grandchildren, Mishawn Herman and Kylah Tucker. There will be a host of cousins and friends that will also greatly miss her.
Janie loved gardening, fishing and was an amazing cook. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into her home. She was loved by her family and friends and will truly be missed.
A funeral service for Janie will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 12 P.M., at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until 12 P.M. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina.
