Paul S. Lilly

Lilly_PaulPaul S. Lilly, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana July 15, 1931, to the late DeWitt and Theresa Lilly. He grew up on the family farm in Columbia City, Indiana. He graduated from South Whitley High School and Purdue University.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 10th Mountain Division and 572 Military Police Corp in Salzburg, Austria from 1952-1954.

He was a 50 year resident of Medina and worked in banking and financial institutions until his retirement.

He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed mystery novels written by his friend Les Roberts. He was a former member of Friends of the Library for Medina County District Library. Most recently, he was on the Board of Directors for Medina County Credit Union. He was a 56 year member of the Columbia City American Legion Post. Paul enjoyed the peaceful summers spent at his lake house on Branch Pond in Ellsworth, Maine. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and sense of humor.

He leaves his beloved family, wife of 56 years, Anitra; sons, Stephen (Kathleen) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Stewart (Margie) of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Nathan of Chicago, Illinois; grandsons, Zachary, Sebastian and Alexander of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; sister, Nancy Constantine of N. Huntington, Indiana; sister-in-law, Wilma Lilly of Minneapolis, Minnesota; cousin, Jeane Powles of Verona, Wisconsin; nieces and a nephew; and special friends, Don Dalessandro of Wadsworth, Jay Riley of Westfield Center, Jean Evans of Medina.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Lilly.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Medina County for their loving care given to him during his illness.

Services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014, 7 P.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Dr. Neal Sadler will officiate. Family will receive friends 4 until 7 P.M., prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday. Private military burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Church of Christ, Congregational, 217 E. Liberty, Medina, OH 44256; and Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, OH 44256.
