Allan W. Hall, 85, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, in Bloomington, Illinois. Allan was born March 31, 1929, in Akron, to David and Mary Hall who preceded him in death.
Allan graduated from Akron North High School and received his undergraduate degree from Baldwin Wallace College. He continued his education at The University of Akron and received his Masters and Doctorate degrees. Allan served as Assistant Athletic Director, Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track Coach at The University of Akron; Director of Athletics at Edinboro State College; and Assistant Athletic Director and Director of the undergraduate major in Athletic Administration at Ashland University. Allan was honored to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served at Fort Bragg.
He was a member of Seville United Methodist Church in Seville, and later a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington, Illinois. In addition, Allan served as Chairman, Commission on Archived History, East Ohio Conference, United Methodist Church; President, United Methodist Historical Society of Ohio; and was a Board Member of the Northern Ohio Railway Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Pam (McMurray) Hall; and children, Beth (Michael) Shook of Morton, Illinois, Dale (Margaret) Hall of Bloomington, Illinois; and grandchildren,
Regan and Cailin Hall and Cameron, Molly, and Amanda Shook. He is also survived by sister, Hope (Earl) Singleton of Glendale, Arizona; five nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Michele Vernotzy and Kristi (Carl) Perry. Allan and Pam were married June 14, 1968, in Akron.
Allan was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Wright; brothers-in-law, Norman W. Wright and Gerald Vernotzy; and in-laws, Richard and Eva McMurray.
Calling hours will be held at 10 A.M., Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Seville United Methodist Church, 74 West Main Street, Seville. The funeral will follow at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
