David Byers

OBIT FLAGDavid Byers, 67, of Lodi, died unexpectedly Friday, March 7, 2014. He was born July 4, 1946 to Raymond and Lena (Buchanan) Byers.

He graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 1964 and soon thereafter joined the U.S. Air Force in service to his country. He spent a year in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970. He settled in Lodi upon his discharge. He worked for Westfield Insurance for 25 years, Spencer Machine and lastly at Sharon Printing in Sharon Center, retiring in March, 2009. David was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wadsworth.

Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Catherine (nee Schmidt) Byers; son, Gerald (Karen); grandchildren, Isaac and Elizabeth; brother, Richard Byers and sister-in-law, Lynn; nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews with another “great-great” due any moment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Daniel (Lynn); and sister-in-law, Barbara.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street, Wadsworth. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 146 High St., Wadsworth, with Rev. Daniel J. Cammarn officiating. Inurnment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Medina County SPCA, 235 S. Medina St., Medina, OH 44256 or Grace Lutheran Church Building Repair and Renovation Fund, P.O. 406, Wadsworth, OH 44282-0406.
