Microsoft Word - SowaMargery.docxMargery Sowa (nee Skotak), 71, left this world for the next Sunday, January 26, 2014, after a courageous and tenacious battle with cancer. She was the adored wife of 50 years to Bob, and the beloved mother of Bob, Stacey Braun (Matt) and Sue Walton (Dave). In her final days, she was surrounded by her family and bathed in comfort and love.

Born in Detroit in 1942, she graduated Thurston High School in 1960. After her marriage in 1963, she devoted her time to raising her children and creating a loving home. She and her family moved to Strongsville in 1981, and she worked as a bank teller and with an insurance company before becoming the guidance secretary at Center Middle School. There, she was friendly and caring support to countless students, many of whom adored her. Upon retiring from Center, she worked part time at Young Scholar Preschool in Medina, where again she was a trusted and loved support to students and parents alike.

Margie lived her life with passion and joy. People were drawn to her effervescent and fun-loving personality. She loved good wine, laughing with friends, reading, traveling, gambling in Vegas (OK, gambling anywhere) and Elvis. She loved to golf and spend summer evenings on the patio listening to nature’s music. She lived her life with hope and optimism, and she was the heart of her family. She will be missed beyond words.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Rachel, Sabrina, Savannah, Michael and Lori; sister, Mary Jane McCarty; brother, Tim Skotak (Theresa); sister-in-law, Debbie Skotak; daughter-in-law, Jamean Sowa; and several adoring nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Wanda Skotak; and brother, Jim Skotak.

Friends may join the family for visitation Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 4 to 8 P.M., and Thursday, January 30, 2014, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 P.M., at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 31, 2014, at 11 A.M., with a viewing one hour prior at 10 A.M., (Please meet at church) at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 3100 Old Weymouth Road, (State Route 3), Medina. Interment will follow at Hope Memorial Gardens, 2447 Center Road, Hinckley.
