Virginia May McDonald (nee Wegman), 100, of Medina, peacefully went to her heavenly home, surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, January 17, 2014. Virginia was born in Cleveland, to the late Emmett E. and Juliette “Della” (Moultan) Wegman on July 23, 1913.
She graduated from Shore High School in 1931. Virginia was employed by General Electric as a secretary and later worked with her husband at his place of business. She spent many winters in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was active in the community. Virginia belonged to the Scottsdale Women’s Club for many years. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, but, in her later years, attended Zion Lutheran Church in Valley City, where she established a scholarship fund for youth. Virginia was a gracious and caring woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her niece, Carol (Jerry Gosney) Beebe of Bristol, Virginia; great-niece, Dawn Beebe (Chris) Henry of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Linda (Joe) Solomon of Jacksonville, Florida; great-great-nephew, Jaren Sensabaugh of Gray, Tennessee; and cousin, George Wegman of Mogadore. She will also be missed by her longtime friend, Wilma French and family, along with her wonderful family of caretakers at Camelot of Medina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Bud” McDonald, to whom she married May 2, 1945; and sister, Dorothy (Les, deceased) Amtsberg.
Family and friends wish to thank Candace and the staff of Hospice of Medina County for the loving care they have given Virginia.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Rev. Michael Koch will officiate. Service will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Burial will take place at Knollwood Cemetery.
