Edward W. Kunkel, 79, of Medina, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012. He was born December 22, 1932, in Akron, to the late Edward and Kathryn Kunkel.
Mr. Kunkel was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, a graduate of Medina High School, a U.S. Army Veteran, and retired from the Brookpark Chevy plant after 34 years of service and was a farmer all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Kunkel; and niece, Cindy Schoeffler.
Ed is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cindy of Texas, David of Akron, Alan and Lori of Copley, Kevin and Nora of Oklahoma, Dennis, Joe and Wendy of Florida. There are 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Francis Kunkel; and sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Tony Schoeffler.
The family will receive friends 2 to 5 P.M., Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M., Monday, September 24, 2012, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 272 Broad St., Wadsworth, with Father Joseph L. Labak as the Celebrant.
Interment, with Military Honors, will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
